Joe Palooka 02 Eps

(5 stars; 1 reviews)

(02 Episodes: #001, #002) "Joe Palooka," comic-strip character, was a short-lived radio situation-comedy; this is more than likely the reason why there are only 2 episodes available online. Yes, I realize there is a #007 which shows up at many web addresses, however at a closer listen, one will discover that the #007 is actually only a really poor sound quality version of #002. For those of you out there old enough to recall, Joe Palooka was a comic-strip character, a small comic-strip of which was enclosed in each of the original Double Bubble bubblegum wrappers (just dated myself!) * def gp ddh

Childhood hero!

(5 stars)

It is very sad for me that only (2) episodes of Joe Palooka on the air have survived. From 4-12-1932 until 8-25-1932, (38) 15 minute episodes were on the air during the CBS run, and from 11-12-1945 until 5-10-1946, (130) 15-minute episodes were on the air during the NCBS run. Nine Joe Palooka films were made...(1) in 1934, (5) in 1936, and (3) in 1937.Terry Bergman (later called Alan Reed) played Joe Palooka on the airwaves. Mr.Reed was later the voice of Fred Flintstone. Joe Palooka was a hero during WWII, over the airways and in the comics. Thanks for sharing these two wonderful and memorable episodes. Thanks for the memories!
