Broken Escalator

On October 5th of last year, the escalators at West Edmonton Mall shut down simultaneously due to what was believed to be a series of mechanical failures, stranding thousands on the second floor. By the time a rescue operation could be organized and mounted, nearly everyone on the mall’s upper level had been killed, and to this day few people, if any, understand what really happened during the period when that area of the mall was cut off from the rest of the world.

My name is Christopher Munroe, and this is the story of what happened to me. This isn't the whole story of what happened at West Edmonton Mall that horrible day, but it is my story. This is the story of the people I met, the things I had to endure, and the lengths I went to, to survive... a broken escalator.

I couldn't get past ep 2 where the guy jumped without trying to walk down and there's no explanation why they don't. I feel no sympathy for these characters, they're just too stupid to live: it's way too long for a joke and it's not even funny! Technically well written and recorded though and I just read reviews so I may give it another chance.

wired little horror story

After the main book Christopher munroe says "I hope you enjoyed my wired little horror story" and it certainly is that! at first you think just walk down the bloody thing but there are clues in the first and second chapter about why that won't happen. you just have to listen for them. darkly comical at times and makes you realise how much you take for granted. but a fantastic listen. might just have been me but I had a bit of trouble with Andrews story (don't worry if you look in the contents page its a chapter title!) well done Christopher munroe! it was a brilliant piece of escapism. and at times quite scary! can't wait for another one !

The Reader

Okay, three things I don't like about this book. First was that the authors voice was very intense. He always talked with too much force. Second was that the story is much too fast. The escalator breaks and then a lot of people die in a matter of about 3 chapters and in less than an hour and a half. And finally the book just isn't interesting enough. Oh, one more thing. The man who committed suicide only said that he was stressed and then he wenr over the railing to fall to his death. The only thing I did like was... Oh wait. Nothing!

I'm not quite sure what I expected from reading the synopsis, but I was pleasantly surprised! I won't spoil the ending, but if you're a fan of supernatural adventures, and I am, you'll enjoy this story. The concept strikes you as really silly at first, I mean, just walk down the escalator...geez! But the more you listen, the more you realize there's something else going on, something unnatural. Kudos Christopher, a great story, interesting characters and a cool plot twist, I look forward to hearing more from you!

The elevators are BROKEN! Cue widespread hysteria and everyone killing each other. Why not!? Not only is the story bizarre, but the general interactions between the various people are just completely on convincing and repetitive. It’s also portrays women as being totally reliant on men for strength, which whilst it doesn’t offend me, it is a bit cheesy. The narrator is okay but doesn’t really help to save this book. There is very little to like here and I didn’t bother to finish it.

Had to listen to entire audio out of mere curiosity, of where the author was going with story. If you had already read some of the other reviews you know one main topic that came to the reader early on and kept you guessing of the characters delimma. If your not a teen , pass on the "Broken Elevator"
