Sanctuary: Surviving The Zombie Apocalypse
Joshua Jared Scott
Read by Joshua Jared Scott
Brutal, agonizing convulsions simultaneously strike a quarter of the Earth’s population. There is no warning and no discernible pattern regarding race, age, gender, or region. The afflicted die within moments of one another. Seven minutes later they rise again and attack the living. The speed at which the disaster happens is too great for any organized response. Towns are overrun. The government and military find themselves unable to react. Civilization crumbles in a matter of hours.
By the end of the first day, the streets are filled with shambling corpses, mindless beings driven solely by the desire to feed. Jacob Thornton decides his only chance is to abandon his home. Fleeing the city, he travels north, encountering other survivors on the way. Together, they gather supplies, seek a place of safety, and discover through trial and error how to defend against the zombies. Yet, the creatures never stop moving, and they have begun to leave the population centers, spreading across the land.

It would have been a five but for the constant interruptions by Mr Sigler. I know all about the Podcasts thank you I don't need to be reminded every fifteen minutes! Good novel I enjoyed during two nights working in a soulless job that is poorly paid so I can't afford to purchase books. Thank you I shall listen to another one tomorrow.
great story

Great book loved the readers voice i disagree with anyone saying he was boring or it didnt suite the part. As far as the relationship goes between Brianna and Jacob..... Age is just a number and in a zombie apocalypse im pretty sure that your not gunna have much variety AND also its a story.... Not real..... They are simply characters in a book no need to get hot headed about it. Overall i really enjoyed this novel kept me wanting more all the time

Story were interesting, although fairly bland, missing depth to characters, keeping up to par with killing off of LGBT characters (but yeay for including them at least), predictable and with an ending so abrubt that it is annoying. none the less I still enjoyed the story, and didn't care about the age gap between the main character and his woman, although I would have wished for the romance to either be left out or have been deeper than what it seemed.
Not bad

To the author I wish to say thank you for your efforts in writing this. For a first time listener you must accept three things. First, the author is the narrator and his voice does not fit the main character of the story. Second, there are grammatical errors. Third, the meat of the story is bland, meaning no literary flavor. Having said all that on with the review. I enjoy zombie themed stories immensely, though this one has its shortcomings over all I enjoyed it. There was no backstory of the main character Jacob. I would have enjoyed learning more of his life before the "zombie apocalypse". There was no tension in the story just a few happenings spread throughout the narrative. There was no real threat to the core characters (other than the occasional shambling zombie or the occasional personality conflict thrown in as an afterthought) it had the feel they were on an extended picnic. I did however enjoy the sinister cornfield when they stopped to change a tire. I felt that was the first real sign of danger in the narrative, then "poof" it was over. There were no shortages of food, water, ammunition or toiletries. I did however enjoy some of the back and fourth banter between the characters though at times I felt it was forced and predictable. Overall I felt it was a good effort to capture the feel of a "zombie apocalypse" but I was left wanting.
make more!!

I see people don’t approve of the relationship in the story but it’s a story and even if it wasn’t, there is no legal problems but ethical or moral ones arise. I don’t really care about what people do though. And as for the storyline and the plot. I thought that the bikers were reminding me of nazis. The nazis also used the babies for target practice and raped the women and children. That was just a little flashback-y but it was pretty intense. And when sherry or whatever her name was killed Louis I was pretty pissed as if I was there. I love that I got into it. Originally upon hearing your voice I was skeptical but I gave it a chance and I loved every episode! When you’re really into a book I guess you just don’t notice small grammatical errors because I didn’t notice any at all. It was like I was watching a movie. Please write and narrate more of this!

It was good enough to listen through but had no depth or action. Everything always wrapped up to neatly for the main character and I certainly wouldn't let him lead me nor do I understand how every woman wants him apparently as he is a really poor example of a leader. Add to that the very biased and stereotypical attitude towards women, lesbians and Christians and as I already said the absolute lack of edge of your seat action it really did feel like it started good and spiralled into a plan of what this guy would do if it happened to him rather than an actual story. Needs beefed up.
I loved it!

Unlike other reviews I have read here, I liked the narrator. He reminded me of the nerd in Zombieland. To those with a problem about the girl - it's a zombie apocalypse for hours sake. For those reviews that had a problem with the author's designation of well armed citizenry having better survival rates - see the above response... All in all good upbeat story as much a it could be with humor and imagination. I recommend and have downloaded 2 sequels to my kindle being disappointed that they are not available on Librivox. Thanks.

While i find the story to be a decent zombie thriller, there was not much in the way of eloquence with the author's penmanship. The author gave us no real emotion with the main cahacter. The main character's relationship with a minor was a bit disturbing as well. It seemed forced on to the reader, and felt like the author is drawing on his personal life experiences. I can only speculate that it is an attempt to make his actions in real life acceptable in society by making them acceptable in his story.
