Following the dissolution of the New South Wales government, Henry Bryce is ready to take on the Labour Party for the seat of Balmain East. But no sooner is the campaign underway than his body turns up in Sydney Harbour. Who did it? Nat Gould, the author of this mystery, was one of the most widely read of his day, especially among lovers of horse racing, the subject of many of his novels. Reviews

Enjoyed every minute of this book. The reader was perfect.

More interesting than intriguing ..

(4 stars)

.. even I, who rarely figure out who did it, cottoned on in no time! However, the setting, events, and attitudes make it a most interesting novel. Unions got a bad press which I found a bit unfair. But what a hero The Phantom is! Beautifully read.

Good Story

(5 stars)

Engaging tale with good character development. Didn’t figure it out until very close to the end. I had no problem with the recording so it must have been fixed. Narration is flawless! The best on LibriVox.

OK STORY

(5 stars)

I do not recall any so-called mystery where the crime and it's solution was incidental to the overall story. However, the story was pleasant enough, and the reader was very good.

Excellent Pace

(5 stars)

Well-written mystery that moves well along at a canter, keeping listeners engaged right to the end. Great authentic reader style too, with vivid descriptions of Australian landscapes and life. Enjoy!

super reader!!

Story is ok, but made a great listen by the reader. I hope he reads more books for LibriVox.
