Reviews

Perfectly Performed

(5 stars)

Karen Savage is a professional narrator; she's on Audible. She is also an avid knitter. Karen does a spectacular job in all her narrations and has done all the "Anne" books that are in the Public Domain in the USA for Librivox. Another book that she performs very well is The Secret Garden in which she does all varied British accents perfectly. Karen is fluent in Spanish and French as well. I have often gone to sleep listening to her sweet girlish voice. Yes, she does speak quite quickly, but the Librivox app does let you change the speed to your liking so it is not a problem.

love it

I was in my late fifties when I found this wonderful reading. I tried to read the book when I was younger, but couldn't get into it. Then I found Karen Savage reading it on LibraVox and fell in love with it. I've played the entire series so many times that I know what's coming just by the chapter titles! I love the fact that the series teaches Christian values without being obvious about it. Love, respect for others (and yourself), obedience to elders, friendship--I could go on and on. It's all in there. Karen makes the humor even funnier and the more serious parts touching without being overly dramatic. Thank you Karen.

A wonderful story.

I love this story. This story is about a young orphan girl named Anne that no one wanted but by mistake is given to Matthew and Matilda Cuthburt, who had requested a boy to help with the farm work. This is Annes story of her life. Her likes, dislikes, her hopes, dreams and disappointments. And the narrator Karen Savage did a wonderful job. I love to listen to her read. She has a real gift telling the stories, no matter what book she reads. It’s as if she herself is telling her story.

a childhood favorite

I listened to this book for the first time many years ago and it struck strikes me now like it did then. As a child you can experience Anne’s life and as an adult you can look on with a grater understanding of what happens. I’ve listened to this book with two different friends as well as several times through by myself and I never tire of it, it is comforting and nostalgic and Karen Savage’s reading personifies Anne perfectly. I can hardly imagine Anne with a voice other than hers.

Amazing!!!!

This is splendid, both the narrator and the book. I love Karen Savage's soft and feminine voice. At first I thought she read quite fast but it grew on me. This book has never failed me since I was 8, I'm 17 now and I love it all the same. Anne's view of the world was so colorful and positive and she also had a golden heart which I admire. The author had done a great job turning the life of an orphan into an exciting journey. Must-read for fiction fan.

Superb! Can't getting enough!

Love it, love it, LOVE IT! I simply adore Karen Savage's vocal interpretation of this well-written, long-beloved book, and I find myself revisiting it almost annually. If you enjoy this version's narration (Karen's vocal acting), don't miss out on Ms. Savage's readings of the entire "Anne" collection, as well as her renditions of "A Little Princess", "The Secret Garden", "The Scarlet Pimpernel", Jane Austen novels, and more! She effectively draws you in to each scene and every single character.

very good book, good reading voice

I found this audiobook to be a very good listen. The person reading did a very good job! I would definitely recommend. I have never heard or read the book before and I found it to be interesting. I do tend to like a faster reading so I did speed up the playback a little.

Great story. Even better narration!

Karen Savage, Karen Savage, Karen Savage. That's the main theme of most of these reviews and also mine. There is a good reason. She is absolutely fantastic! My whole family loves her readings of our favorite books. Great book that has kept me company on many long trips. (I'm a 47 yr old truck driver)
