Notwithstanding
Mary Cholmondeley
Read by Simon Evers
The book starts with Annette Georges choosing between two fates: suicide and running away with a disreputable stranger. She is rescued by a kind woman who looks after her until she can go to live with her maiden aunts in a village in the English countryside. There she meets and makes friends with various people and, almost coincidentally, the facts of her past come back to play a crucial part in the story. - Summary by Simon Evers (8 hr 39 min)

Excellent!
A LibriVox Listener
Another awesome read by Simon Evers! I love this author! Thank you! Some parts run a little slow and I was longing for some action. But I love her descriptions and careful building of characters. The reader does an amazing job of distinguishing between characters. Stick with it! You won’t be sorry.
Love this Story!

This is one of the best books I’ve read! There are minor character introductions here and there that make one wonder why but it all fits together perfectly. Stay with the few slower parts and, I promise you will be well rewarded. Wonderful story!

If you understand and accept the mores of the volume's setting, you will most likely enjoy listening to this author's work. As for its narration, who can fault the brilliantly-accomplished reading style of the inimitable Simon Evers? I do believe he could make the London telephone directory come alive.

A new author to me. A lot of TROLLOPE and perhaps a bit of BENNETT, not as good as either. but still a fine work. It does not hurt that it is read by Simon Evers.

Thank you to Simon Ever for another impeccable reading. The main character of the book is a woman who is kind, honest and multi dimensional. Unfortunately she lives in a conventional world. I enjoyed the reading.

brilliant reading and amazing story, reminds me of Jane Austens style. So many hidden gems in the narrative...I will definitely listen again. And I rarely listen or read a book twice.

A story which places it's protagonists in challenging situations, where they reveal their fine characters. An uplifting book, well written and well read.
Quite a Story
