That is not wholly wrong, yet many have seen in this novel's beguiling voice, innovative narrative technique, and acute depiction of erotic repression a literary masterpiece. How anyone could find this boring is beyond me. The narrator draws us into a story of seemingly normal but dysfunctional characters. The ' choppy ' narrative technique works like flashbacks in a film, giving further information that wasn't initially evident. Definitely a masterpiece. I shall listen again. The reader has a lovely calm but expressive voice.
