Bride and Groom
Read by John Nelson
Bride and Groom started its run in November 1945 and ended in September 1950. Each program focused on an engaged couple, with host John Nelson interviewing them about how they met and how long they knew each other. The couple would then be whisked off-stage to a chapel set up for the program, where they would be married by one of the ministers employed by the show.
While the private ceremony was in process, Nelson would continue the program by interviewing married couples in the studio audience, who were offered gifts and prizes to commemorate anniversaries or in thanks for their appearance. The newly married couple would return to be showered with gifts for their home, paid for by show sponsors.
There are show fragments available, as some discs in the Hehn collection were part 1 or part 2 of related recordings. The discs that would complete the programs were not available, and the dates on those discs did not have a year indicated but are assumed to be from 1946.
This recording is part of the Old Time Radio collection.
