Doctor Jo

(5 stars)

This is a beautiful production from the golden era of the BBC home service. Two sisters: the stay-at-home one wins the man who soon realizes he loved the other now famous, international medical doctor sister more. All the characters are audibly very different and if you like old drawing room dramas with no plot, this is for you. incidentally, the the child actor who plays twelve year old Jim, is much better than radio actors of his age, at that time, were. The fact that the entire drama is played out in the drawing room and one part of the garden briefly, enables us to understand the claustrophobia, frustration & stifledom (is that a word? it is now ) suffered by all the family except - Dr Jo.
