Mr Hogarth's Will

Read by LibriVox Volunteers

(4.1 stars; 23 reviews)

Jane and Elsie Melville were raised by their kindly but eccentric uncle, Mr Hogarth who believed that women were just as good as men, and thus gave his nieces a boy's education. Upon his death, they find that he has left his entire fortune to his heretofore unknown son and left them only a small allowance, expecting them to make their own way in the world using the education he furnished them. Will the girls survive in a world that expects them, at the most, to become governesses? (summary by Karen Savage) (13 hr 52 min)

Reviews

I enjoyed this book

(5 stars)

I enjoyed listening to this book. I slowed down the reading using the little rabbit icon in the top right hand corner. Most of the readers did a really good job. And the storyline kept my interest.

good book

(5 stars)

the book is good and I appreciate the time the readers took to record it. some readers are easier to follow than others but, as others have said, slowing down the speed makes it easier.

Karen Savage reads as well as ever.

(3 stars)

Thanks to Amanda Hindman for helping to make this interesting book available. For future reference, you may like to know that Edinburgh is pronounced Edinbruh.

lousy ending, but otherwise an ok read.

Too fast

(2 stars)

The story sounds interesting but the reading is much too fast for enjoyment. That's a shame.
