(4.9 stars; 132 reviews)

John Owen, in this Puritan classic, writes succinctly of the matters of the heart in dealing with sin in the life of the Christian. In a way that cuts right to the heart of the matter while leaving no room for excuses, Owen encourages the Christian to “Be killing sin or sin will be killing you.” (Summary by Stephen Escalera) (4 hr 37 min)

One of the best books ever written in my opinion. Has assisted me immensely with my understanding of the life and death battle with sin in my life and my children and my fellow church members. Truly we must win or we die!

Excellent book. Biblically sound. Convicting. Reader does an excellent job reading the more than 475 year old "Old English" text. (Book is only about 50 years younger than most of Wm. Shakespeare's work.) Please listen/read until the end for application.

Believers should take heed, some powerful truths which are as valid today as in Owen’s day,

Read and recorded very professionally sounding. The wruting seems more schilarly and a bit hard but that's the education and understanding of men 400 years ago. It's very astute and helpful. A must for Christians.

Essential book for understanding that the true battle of our faith is in the depths of our souls, and not in mere behavior management. Wonderful reading here, with even good Greek pronunciations. Thank you!

Excellent book! Practical ways to putting remaining sin to death & making no provisions for it. Great reader and easy to listen to. Thank you for having this Classic by John Owens available.

This is a very detailed book. I could not have read it myself. Stephen's reading of it is very good. Clear and understandable every word. Thanks.

Great reader. Especially on the Greek words he did a splendid Job pronouncing so that it was possible to catch the exegetical argument of Owen.
