"Jane Hathaway and her niece, Ruth Thorne, have never met. Jane invites Ruth for a visit, but leaves before Ruth comes. Ruth agrees to come to Jane for quiet and rest. When Ruth arrives, the maid gives her a letter from her aunt. In the letter, Aunt Jane does not tell Ruth anything about her trip abroad but insists that Ruth light an oil lamp in the attic each night. Very soon, the all together forgotten past and the steady present are united." (Summary by Stav Nisser) (4 hr 15 min)

Reading the description I didn’t know if I wanted to read it because of the heavy hint on a mystery but it turned out to be a sweet, gentle read. Very lovely and the mystery that is alluded to is more of a realization which pieces history together.

Just Ok

This story just seemed to end abruptly. It was okay and certainly entertaining enough. The narration was well done.

Enjoyed the language & humor in this love story 😊

‘Lavender and Old Lace’ was really lovely, a simple and curious gem. I thoroughly enjoyed this novel, and was intrigued by its relics and hints of mystery. I would highly recommend!

Not the best author.

Somewhat stilted dialog. Reader's voice is a little too fast, but it is clear which is important for anyone with hearing difficulties.

A wonderful story for those who like happy endings. The ending doesn’t give itself away until almost the very end. The reader is very good.

sweet story
