Reviews

Delightful story; (mostly) excellent narration

Thank, Mr. Troxel, for lending your time and talent to give us a quality audio edition of MacDonald’s The Cruel Painter. I can’t give it five stars because of one significant (but certainly non-fatal) flaw: the voice-acting of the protagonist’s friend, Heinrich. His voice was almost impossible for me to understand. At least Heinrich had little to say, and I was able to follow the story. Next time please don’t over-act! Your voice is pleasant enough as-is. Again, thank you very much for spending your time to give us a very-good audio version of this book. I’m indebted to you and would like to re-listen.

I really enjoyed this story. If this is an example of Gothic horror, i will listen to more. Ned Troxel's reading brought the story alive - thank you!
