The Fairchild Family
Mary Martha Sherwood
Read by LibriVox Volunteers
The adventures of Lucy, Emily and Henry are described in this short novel, written and set in Regency England. Their naughtiness, their activities and their interactions with the children next door; Miss Augusta and Charles Trueman, are all delightfully described. Their daily lives are an insight into childhood and the family and religious values at the time - each chapter has a moral lesson, and the good end happily, while the bad get what they deserve. Reviews
One book - many stories
JJ
Sherwood was a prolific writer of her time. This lovely period novel tells the story of country children and their lives, family and adventures. It also contains several other stories in the form of - read aloud books that the children received, local stories, grandma's recollections... which are a nice bonus. Descriptive of life in Regency England and the religious atmosphere of homes in this time period.

Not a lot happens in this one! Quite long winded as it turns out with almost 100% telling rather than showing.
