Broadway Is My Beat was a CBS radio crime drama series which ran from 1949 to 1954. The show originated in New York for the first 12 episodes, which was then moved to Hollywood. I love this stuff. What's remarkable for me is some of the language in the introduction and ending. I'd call it poetry. The writer's were really onto something. Poetic descriptions of Broadway, the loneliness, its gaudiness and it's inhabitants are precursors or influenced by beat poetry. Excellent performance by the lead actor, sensitive and tough at the same time. Somewhat a formulaic structure but I still find it entertaining. A window into late 40's early 50's Manhattan jargon and sensibility. Very realistic and just plain terrific.

I love this show! It's not the "most known" Detective show from the golden age of radio but It certainly is the most underated Detective show! GREAT STUFF!

I'm not a huge fan of straight detectives shows, but these were really solid. I recommend you listen to them if you have any interest in the genre at all.
