This is an interesting little book, that provides insight into the life of this great man from the point of view of a friend. It is sensitive and compassionate. It also further expands the picture of the great person and persona that is Oscar Wilde.

Despite the somewhat wooden narration (in places) it was intriguing to hear of Gide's meetings and recollections of the words of Oscar Wilde. Like 'writing in water' will resonates within me. Wilde's tragic destruction and the importance of his few remaining friends struck me sharply and I was filled by pity.
