just keep on coming

(5 Sterne)

First, I must say that's Simon Evers is among my favorite readers. His accent, course, helps but he just puts so much emotion into his reading that you feel as if you're there and it's happening to you. This story is a wonderful story of love gone wrong and then right again. The characters were developed quite well and the author kept the story moving even though it was not an action book. The characters were wonderful and totally human which makes it all so much more enjoyable and readable. Once again, I have found another book that has actual morals and shows the significance and consequences of our actions, long-term and short-term. Thank you, Librivox, for another great book.

wonderfully read & written...

the suspense builds throughout the story in a very subtle way with a multi twist ending you wont see coming... well worth the listen and kudos to the reader... thank you

THE MARRIAGE OF WILLIAM ASH

(5 Sterne)

Mr. Evers was MARVELOUS reading this long involved book! He NEVER failed to put just the RIGHT feeling into the text. What an OUTSTANDING job this is! And the book itself is unlike anything I have ever read. This is my first book by Miss Ward and WOW! What a book! I suppose some might think it melodramatic. However, I was invested in the characters and therefore I loved it! I even shook my head and shed a tear now and then. All around: BRAVO!

excellent

(5 Sterne)

Great writing and reading. William Ashe certainly was a patient man. As unbridled as was his wife, there were several times I should have told her to shut her stupid face. LOL I guess there really are people in this world who do selfish, crazy things. Someday I hope to find some great stories that are modern. Enough of the old British aristocracy Tales.

Excellent!

(5 Sterne)

Simon Evers is always excellent in tone and accent. The book is excellent as well and draws one in as the protagonist, Kitty, is a fascinating character. You will laugh at her escapades and cry at her broken spirit and heart. I could not tear away from a most entertaining book.

An Epic Saga

(5 Sterne)

I think our leading character, Lady Kitty Ashe, embodies a classic manic-depressive. She is both endearing & maddening, hilarious & shocking. This novel captured me, in every sense of the word, expertly read by the LibriVox volunteer, Simon Evers.

Very Sad

(3 Sterne)

The narrator is wonderful, but the story was very sad and I felt it was rather pointless. I will look for more books read by the narrator, but will avoid this author from now on.

Difficult

(3 Sterne)

Simon does a great job reading as always, but the story was just to much. It reminded me of Wuthering Heights, people fighting against their natures and when they give in hurting everyone. Ah well.
