"He was a stranger in Matcham, a 'foreigner' as the villagers called such alien visitors. He had never been in the village before, knew nothing of its inhabitants or its surroundings, its customs, ways, local prejudices, produce, trade, scandals, hates, loves, subserviencies, gods, or devils , and yet henceforward he was to be closely allied with Matcham, for a certain bachelor uncle had lately died and left him a small estate within a mile of the village." one persons advice to reader
First things first...thank you for you hard work. With all due respect, I find your narrative style trying...and you are choosing books of fiction that are highly valued and extremely popular Please vary your narrative choices instead of concentrating on fiction with the highest member value. Share the fiction field with others. Leave some of these books for other narrators if you would.
impossible to listen to

I gave up after two chapters. The reader’s dull, monotonous, lifeless tone was tough to keep listening to. It’s sad because I’m sure he put a lot of time and effort into the project.
Music, passion, envy, illness, Africa, secrets,

Two wealthy young men, very different in talents and temperament, fall hopelessly in love with the same beautiful, kind, and self-assured young woman, also from a prominent family. Family secrets from the past color the lives of their relationships. A long trip to Africa is magnificently detailed, the emotional effect of classical music on several characters is fascinating, and madness plays a part in the story as well. Great character development of the members of all three families.
I lasted 46 seconds. Absolute shite narration. There needs to be quality control, for voices. Another book ruined.
