The Side of the Angels
Gelesen von Simon Evers
Basil King
The book is set in New England in the early 20th century in an old established community where times are rapidly changing but nonetheless the rules of a hierarchical society still hold good. Thor, a rich doctor from an old family, in trying to help Rosie, the poor woman he truly loves, offers her money so that his brother Claude can marry her and have the things they will need in life. Things unravel in the close-knit community with an intriguing mixture of philosophy and romance as the younger generation learns to be free in their pursuit of love and life. The approach of the older generation to the different ways of the younger and the church all add to the involvement. - Summary by Simon Evers (0 hr 7 min)

Great Story!

Basil King has told an old story and told it well. Narrated by one of my top 5 favorites which made me not want to put it down. Enjoyed the story and especially enjoyed Mr. Ever's narration.
A Preacher’s Fairytale
Scott in Sandy Eggo
Basil King was a retired minister when he began his writing career in his 50’s. He must have heard many stories of various people with various flaws. The idea of what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger and what actually kills others makes others into better people, is true in first and a bit far fetched in the later. Nonetheless, with a strong, relentless religious perspective, the story drifts into the ridiculous and unrealistic. Hence the title of this review. Perhaps this is only lacking the jaded opinion of humanity in its more unforgiving nature of corrupt individuals. It’s a long road to redemption for each and all. This is only a review of the book. Simon Evers did an incredible job reading this novel. Thank you.
Narrator is acceptable
Ms. Elizabeth
Storyline has a good moral point, I believe. It's before focusing on others problems or defects, fix your own first then you can help others more compassionately or not at all. While I do like this narrator, my brain and ears can't keep up with the burst of speed, few mumbled words, & deep, low volume which my speakers won't adjust to. Still, I listen to his works.
Good Enough Story
Tim & Frankie
The first and through to the middle was excellent, it slowed down for me towards the end. The descriptions were a bit flowery and wordy. I think they may have described the entire kingdom of floral and fauna.

Another excellent recording by Simon Evers. I honestly don't know what one reviewer meant by her complaints: maybe the recording has been re-done, because the sound quality had no issues.
good book, great reader
