These are recordings from WBBM, the CBS affiliate for Chicago, Illinois. In most cases, they contain the original news broadcasts and commercials of the era. Audio quality and length vary.

I TOOK A FEW OF THESE STORY'S TO SCHOOL IN MY LG PHONE ! MY FRIENDS COULD NOT BE LEAVE WHAT THEY WERE HEARING ! SO WE TOOK IT TO OUR TEACHER AND HE SAID YES A GIRL NAMED PATTY HEARST ROBBED A BANK ! IRAN TOOK AMERICAN PRISONERS ! WHO EVER SAVED THESE SHOWS THANK YOU ! I SURE LOOK AT MY GRANDFATHER DIFFERENT NOW ! AT FIRST I THOUGHT HE WAS JOKING ME LISTENING TO HIS SHOWS AND HEARING THE NEWS BOY HE SURE WASN'T ! WE PROVED IT IN CLASS !

and, in my personal opinion, OTR programs are incomplete unless "In most cases, they contain the original news broadcasts and commercials of the era" as audio ephemera adds to the whole nostalgic quality of it all. Great shows, great writing- it has it's critics, but I find most if not all of them very well done, although I have not listened to them all yet, so far so good. I think CBSMRT belong on the upper echelons of great radio programs. Not all of the programs are deathly or grim, even if EG Marshall says they're tales of the macabre. There are Westerns, all sorts of genres within a genre. Anyway as a whole these are just wonderful. I am so glad these are available to us.The historical information by itself in the manner of the ad breaks and WBBM news inserted between episodes are just fascinating in themselves. again Thanks to the uploader

Dear true and genuine princesses, I too used to enjoy the quaint commercials and news straight out of the past. Eventually, I hated them. The news is interminable in some of these. How you three can find the news and commercials a delight through some 800 episodes, I cannot fathom, unless it is Emperor's New Clothes syndrome. Especially considering how tough it eventually becomes to endure the deafening creaking rusty hinges intro, and in many episodes the poor sound quality made so much worse by commercial breaks and long stretches of news before another, perhaps better quality, episode can start. How do you bear it, let alone cherish it as virtually the best part of the shows? It's that pea under your 20-foot pile of mattresses. You can feel it. I cannot. :o) Simple as that, obviously. These broadcasts are magnificent. Not only do we hear the priceless CBS RMT shows, but the newscasts, commercials and promos from WBBM and CBS are amazing. In the late 1970s, I tuned into WBBM each night from a great distance, and Chicago seemed as close as next door with the clear channel sound of 780 AM. Each of these episodes takes me back to the glorious 1970s. Sharing them with the world in this way is a real gift. Phil Ramone Ottawa, KS

Thanks to your hard work, effort and time we all are able to hear these programs as they were broadcast 40 years ago. I think of these shows being offered for so long with all of that information cut out to make the file as small as possible and thus save memory. This just ends up being golden. Think of the Shadow without Bluecoal ads or the Goodrich ads before it became B.F. Goodrich. Or Suspense without it's Autolite ads. It was all good stuff!
