The Blood of the Vampire is a Gothic novel, often compared to Bram Stoker's Dracula and Le Fanu's Camilla. Harriet is a vampire who kills accidentally. She enters a European convent and tries to integrate into society, Victorian and strait-laced. The novel deals with eugenics, race and class and has been praised for its different view of vampires, as suffering from a medical ailment rather than a supernatural phenomenon. - Summary by Lynne T (8 hr 52 min)

Review: The Blood of the Vampire

(4,5 Sterne)

The sad story of Harriet. To have a live as she must have been quite horrible. The story ending as it did was somewhat befitting, with her finally understanding the unfortunate inheritance from her parents and why her life started and ended on the same path it did. She realized her true nature.
