Aurora Floyd, the daughter of a rich banker and an actress, could not have had a better start: back from a finishing school in Paris, she is beautiful, clever and rich. Two men instantly fall in love with her. But when they discover that she have done something very wrong in her past, who will stand by her side? With a set of unforgettable characters, the author delivers to us what she calls "a domestic drama". This book asks some major questions: is it good to love someone even if they lied? Even if they were amoral and behaved very badly? Is it good to forgive everything? Those questions are timeless, and so is this book. (Summary by Stav Nisser) (20 hr 20 min)

Not as good as Lady Ashley

(4 Sterne)

The book is good, but it will remain in the shadow of the author's former book "Lady Ashley' Secret". The plot of the present book is less surprising and mysterious. And yet, if I had listened to this book first, I might have given it 5 stars. As for the reading: I liked some readers better than others, but my main point is that I prefer books to be read completely by one volunteer.

aurora floyd is a nice novel for an austen lover who has exhausted austen's short, wonderful collection.

Great

I really run out of words for these excellent audio books . The readers are excellent , with no exception . I have discovered another favorite author , the list continues to grow ! Thanks again , Librivox , for another great book.

Good but not her best

(3,5 Sterne)

I enjoyed this story for the most part. The thing that bothered me most was the throw away character of Aurora's long lost uncle. His role was not of much significance until the very end and it wasn't really necessary that it be him who saved Talbot. Any servant on the premises could have done as much. This character was introduced early enough to have made this story so much richer had he been utilized in more scenes. Especially scenes with Aurora. He could have been such a comfort to her. I expected a loving meeting between him and his long lost neice. Maybe him telling her things about het mothers childhood stories. This really disappointed me. zi also found it very odd that Aurora & John's butler never mentioned meeting her uncle the night of the murder. Stranger still was the fact that Aurora's father never mentioned him or asked why he never made it there to meet his daughter as planned. Very weird.

Sherry P's review fits perfectly. Despite the uncle wrongly being a throwaway character I really enjoyed this story. My interest & attention was kept the entire time. I loved the love between Aurora & her husband. If only every good person could have a relationship like that! The 1 complaint about the chapter 15 reader makes no sense to me. She had a nice voice. The problem is that there are robotic sounds interfering with it. I guess there was a recording issue. Other than that everything was fine.

great book

(4 Sterne)

This books plot is very intriguing and captivating. I have read listened to a few times periodically and enjoy it each time. I would've enjoyed it better if some of the readers were better. With some there was an echo that was hard to sit through. If the book was read on its entirety by Elizabeth Klett (hint hint) the reading would superb. But great writing keeps you on your toes for sure. Thank you for making these books available. Love this site.

This is a very good story with twists to the plot. The words of the author are well chosen and descriptive. But, listening to this book is very difficult. There are too many readers. Their vocal quality and pace varies greatly. Some chapters are poorly recorded and difficult to understand. Thank you for the volunteer efforts.

loved it

I really enjoyed this book. The story was a classic sensation novel and i really enjoyed listening to the beautiful English. The one criticism I have is all the different readers, although they were all great, switching between different readers is a bit off putting .
