Whistlin' Dan Berry is one of the most interesting characters in Western fiction. With uncanny abilities he controls a wild stallion, appropriately named Satan, and a ferocious wolf dog, Black Bart. Easy going, Berry proves absolutely unforgiving when physically assaulted by a feared, vicious outlaw, Jim Silent. Seemingly without any emotions, Whistlin' Dan is relentless in his vengeful search for Silent and his outlaw gang. The is the first book in the "Whistlin Dan" series. A captivating Western fable of a strong, silent, mysterious hero, his faithful animal companions and the beautiful woman who is hopelessly in love with him. Together the man and his companions defeat a legendary bad guy. An old fashioned story beautifully read.

This is a well written and unpredictable adventure. It has excitement, gun fights, good guys and bad guys with an even sprinkle of romance. Great story read by an excellent reader.

This is a lovely story about Whistlin' Dan, his horse, his dog/wolf and the girl who loves him. The story contains it's fair share of outlaws and shoot-outs, but is also full of man’s sense of loyalty and honour. It is read by Richard Kilmer in a clear, measured and thoughtful way. Thank you.

Max Brand was the best of Western writers and this, the first story in the Whistlin' Dan series, shows his mastery. The reading by Richard Kilmer conjures the spirit of the Wild West, which makes this book excellent company whilst driving the M60 (that's a Mancunian joke). TheBookworm (Manchester, UK)

The book was well read by Richard Kilmer. The story is fairly unique. Whistling Dan is quite a character, although somewhat unbelievable. overall a very good Western and a good listen.

Whistlin Dan Berry is brought to life by Richard's excellent reading style. This is the first adventure for Dan, Satan and Black Bart. Highly recommended tale of the old west.
