Great play, beautiful translation, good dramatic reading

Antigone is a favourite of mine. The Storr verse translation is poetic and reads well in tone and rhythm. This dramatic reading is good. The special effects, however, applied to the Chorus are rather distracting, nor is this role read all that well. Otherwise, a good performance.

I didn't know I wanted to hear Sophocles's Theban Plays. Tried them by chance and kept wanting more. To me, Antigone is the most interesting and the best performed of the 3. The readers/actors were excellent. The story is relevant, then & now... should one obey the state laws or personal ethics? Religion vs the state seems secondary to the state vs the individual. Pride and rigidity also are addressed. Another ongoing issue is the king's fury at being challenged by a woman.

For the most part, this was a good recording . The filtered chorus, however, not only made it very hard to understand words, it just seems cheesy. Much better just play it straight. Maybe multiple voices reading together would be better, but the echo chamber effect was just bad.

one of the best recordings of any production on Librivox. Elizabeth Klett steals the show, once again, but she's accompanied by an all star cast of talented and passionate volunteers. there's no weak chain in this link. I'll probably revisit this production for many years to come

My favorite classical play, and the performances are fantastic. I am very frustrated though that the translator is not listed anywhere that I can find! To me this is really important information… I have to subtract one star from this otherwise great production because of this.
