A Study in Scarlet is a detective mystery novel written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, introducing his new character of Sherlock Holmes, who later became one of the most famous literary detective characters. He wrote the story in 1886, and it was published the next year. The book's title derives from a speech given by Holmes to his sidekick Doctor Watson on the nature of his work, in which he describes the story's murder investigation as his "study in scarlet": "There’s the scarlet thread of murder running through the colourless skein of life, and our duty is to unravel it, and isolate it, and expose every inch of it." Bob Neufeld Reads _A Study in Scarlet_

(5 Sterne)

A great introduction to Sherlock Holmes. A recommended book. However, this review is primarily intended to congratulate and recommend Bob Neufeld's reading of it, as well as all other books by him I've pleasured myself by playing. A more talented reader would be difficult to find, and not for free at that. Forget paid audiobooks subscriptions, lets pay this man to read for us! My hearty congratulations on stellar work! I intend to read all of his recordings, as I feel nearly as much enriched by his narrations as the subject material itself.

Gracious God, eargasm!

Just like in two reviews posted before mine, I gladly say that I love this audio book so much! Mr Bob Neufeld, you did such a wonderful job! I don't say other versions are not good, but this one is my favourite, not to mention that the reader, Bob, is absolutely one of the best audio book readers I ever heard and he is just right for Sherlock Holmes series. I believe I would not be able to resist if he did the rest of the series.

good intro to sherlock & watson

this is a must read to understand the relationship and origin of the duo. the mystery was way out n left field for me and I got completely confused thinking it was short stories as I didnt see the connection in the US & London until that section was totally over. but it all tied together n the end. nice demonstration that Doyle can write stories that take place outside of old london just fine. I was satisfied with the volunteer readers as well.

A great classic.

I've been an Arthur Conan Doyle fan for a long time, and his breadth of topics and range of style never ceases to entertain, even so I have never read one of his full length Sherlock Holmes novels. I was pleasantly surprised just how in depth and intricate the plot was. An excellent story read by an excellent reader, in my opinion one of the best at librebox. Thank you sir for your work!

REQUIRED READING

(4,5 Sterne)

This story must be read by every Sherlock Holmes fan because it explains very concisely the valuable presence of Dr. Watson. The story itself is not the greatest of th SH tales, but it is certainly not a throwaway. It is easy to see how it would have appealed to the initial readers and lead to many more efforts on the part of ACD. The reader did a fine job.

Excellent Intro to Sherlock & Watson

We've all seen the movies, but here, you get all the specific details to the beginning of their relationship. it is a gripping plot that had me pause to catch my breath and eagerly return for more. The reader, Mr. Bob Newfeld perfectly voiced each character and I followed along with ease.

great reader

seems like the story changed at some point from Sherlock Holmes to another story? Mr Neufeld is a great reader. He sounds like James Mason. i go to sleep every night listening to librivox. one night when I turned it on it seemed to no longer have Holmes and Watson. but still well read.

5/5 Would recommend

A fantastic intro to Sherlock Holmes. Also, the first audiobook I've ever listened to and I have to say that as a first impression of audiobooks it was wonderful. I just want to say, Bob Neufeld keep doing what you're doing because I have no complaints.
