entertaining book

Very enjoyable book that is highly recommended. Greatly read.

I really enjoy Leinster's Calhoun and Mergatroyd stories. Like most Leinster protagonists Calhoun is a man of science who is if forced to think on his feet to come up with solutions to all sorts of odd situations (typically some sort of health crisis since he is a med ship man). Pariah Planet reads like a sci-fi retelling of the Dr. Seuss classic "The Sneetches." Prejudices are driving the medical and political situations. The story is short and tight, yet still dynamic and interesting. The author knows how to keep the story focused and moving forward. And the lovable Mergatroid character is genius. The reader is the incomparable Mark Nelson. His voicing of the characters and reading of the text is simply the best on Librivox.

I throughly enjoyed this book and reader. Highly recommended:)

Perfectly read entertaining classic age science fiction explores deep irrationa…

Pariah planet depiction of the anatomy of irrational hatred demonstrates how classic science fiction can explore social issues. The treatment of ‘blue skins’ touches a deep archetypal nerve of humanity, well worth our attention. Leinster’s prolific works touched on so many issues relevant to the modern day. While writing tastes may have changed, the underlying themes are risk. Mark Nelson’s reading, like his others in Librivox, captures the spirit of the era perfectly - I can listen to his golden voice all day! I really enjoyed this reading.

On another note

Is there anyone that can contact Mark Nelson and ask him if he can read The Forgotten Planet by Leinster? There is a version on librivox already but the articulation of the reader makes me miss out on a lot of words... I know it's a great story and a lot of the Mark Nelson fans will love it too! Please Mark I'm almost desperate enough to pick up the book and read it myself :p

look at "This world is taboo"

I found myself feeling déjà vu and realized This World is Taboo" is a related work as is many of the author work is. I enjoyed it.
