The story of a love so strong that neither the rigid rules of Society in California in the 1800s nor the very bowels of hell could keep a young woman from the love she had found. A story rich in fashion ad feminism showing how determination and love could overcome all obstacles. (Summary by Sharon Kilmer) (6 hr 5 min)

My grandmother born 1870 spoke in the manner of the reader. I think she nailed it. thank you
Pretty good
Ancient Aunt
This is a pretty good story. A bit too protracted, but sympathetic characters and a good period piece.

I don’t mean to be presumptuous but I would like to offer a suggestion to readers who’s abilities are admirable but whose vocabulary is wanting. It’s a shame to ruin a reading you have worked so hard on. I have a suggestion that could solve the problem of pronouncing unfamiliar words....read each chapter before you record. When you spot a word you have never heard spoken before...LOOK IT UP. when you take a stab at unfamiliar words 9 x out of 10 it is wrong. That is a jolt to the listener and it interferes with your otherwise lovely performance.
