Do not plan on getting anything done during the time your listening to this reading. The word pictures this author draws within your mind are just too intense .

I love Dunsany's words, descriptions and concentrated ideas. This is an excellent collection of stories that has inspired writers for roughly a hundred years now. excellent and inspiring.

An interesting series of early fantasy stories, marred, if I may use so strong a word, by Dunsany’s continual use of melancholic death as a motif. His technique is good, but because he keeps hitting the same notes, his work is best read in small snatches, separated by other work. Recommended to fans of whimsical, rather than heroic, fantasy. Listen to this book mainly because the great authors it is said to have partly influenced. It was entertaining and the reader did a good job. But since the stories were no where near my favorites due to my personal tastes I could not give five stars. Other listeners and reviewers might justifiably give them however.
