A beautiful story

(5 Sterne)

Have previous reviewers bothered to listen properly? This is the gentle story of 2 families, one working class, one middle class living in a rural valley. It follows the relationships of the brothers and sisters of each family as they grow into adults. It is sensitive and perceptive . The descriptions of the countryside are truly beautiful. I shall be listening to it again

Useless Drivel

(2,5 Sterne)

It starts nowhere, and goes nowhere, clearly was written to appeal to female readers with all its beefcake descriptions. Bored me to death. I had to move on. Simon Evers was as good as always of course, but there was no redeeming this one.

a first novel

(3,5 Sterne)

mismatched marriages amidst the continuing class divisions in England, while the Industrial revolution moves on...if only Victorian England understood alcoholism, so as George would not be seen as a moral failure, rather than a sick man.

Heartbreak

(5 Sterne)

My first by this author. It was excellent in the writing and the reading. However (spoiler alert), the ending was so sad that I doubt I will attempt another. Very well done though.

(3 Sterne)

Lovely narration as always from Evers, however the story never really gathered any momentum, nor showed any purpose or direction.

(3,5 Sterne)

Interesting story, but I really don't understand the ending.
