Nostalgic time travel
PH1941
If for some reason you are not familiar with this series (hard to imagine, but possible) do yourself a favor and pick it up around 1940 or so and listen to it in some kind of sequence. You'll become fast friends with the residents of 79 Wistful Vista and, as well, the denizens of the stereotypical American town of the era. Programs like this one, and it's first spinoff, the Great Gildersleeve, are upbeat, entertaining and flag-waving. Like "Lucy" - the African skeleton - the program represents the "missing link" between vaudeville and the present day sit-com (such as they are...) between the 19th century stage and the television. It's a culturally important program, it's entertaining and enlightening.

This is Old Time Radio. I was a hardliner for Gunsmoke and the Detective Series. Sure the Sam Spades and Dick Diamond's of the OTR world were great and there was no man cooler than Matt Dillon, U.S. Marshall. But Fibber & Molly were comic gold. They complemented each other so well and the comic timing was....timeless. I am in my early 40's and I would rather listen to Fibber & Molly vs. watching any of the so called sitcoms today. 69 years later, they are making me laugh out loud. That says something for the quality of program this is
Well known because it's great,

not great because it's well known. This is an excellent historical season of Fibber McGee & Molly, as rubber conservation, military stamps, and gas rations were newly put into effect, and Fibber and Molly play their patriotic parts in many of these episodes.
