Cheating, Death

(4.1 stars; 205 reviews)

When the walking dead fill the streets, who can cheat death? Who can survive?

Featuring a zombie outbreak that devastates Denver, an indecisive adulterer, and a series of violent, disturbing, and perhaps even heart-rending events of the sort you'd expect when the dead rise up to eat the living, Cheating, Death is a roller-coaster ride through a horror show both of death and of the heart.

Cheating, Death is the fourth glimpse of the storybook universe first seen in Lost and Not Found, and gives a detailed look at the zombie outbreak that put the events of Forget What You Can't Remember in motion. Listen to one for fun, then read and/or listen to them all to get the rest of the story.

I love zombie books & this one is at the top of my list. My BIG BIG BIG problem with the book is the narrator (author). I guess because I'm a busy mom and "listen" to all my books but narrators can make or break one! He's either, singing the ...

The writing technique was adequate enough, but aside from that l cannot find one good thing to say about this story. No empathy for the main character, two dimensional and without one redeeming trait. The story is bleak and without hope at any point. It may if been a cathartic exercise in self projection for the author, but me as a reader l’m annoyed , because it’s an hour or so l’ll never get back. Did try another one of this authors stories …… Fifteen minutes in and l was thinking ‘ l’m outta here !!! ‘

A bit cliched, but okay.

Not a bad lesson this one and it is well read by the author, but I have given the marks I have because it is a bit cliched. It is your typical horror movie where the man is the saviour and the woman is only good for screaming and putting everybody’s lives in danger. I say this as a bloke! Much of the book is what you will have heard a dozen times before, but it is still okay and worth a listen without being groundbreaking.

sorry , but...

I loved many selections... But , having to stop to start a new chapter was distracting... and took to whole idea of enjoying a good read as I too care of the Animals at the sanctuary , where I volunteer... so , Sorry.. gotta go... your free books are a fantastic gift to the working retired poor , like me... but , for me , complete auto play is a must... Thank You... For your understanding... I am going to delete the app. now 😞😢

where is the end!!???

The 4 (or 5) books in the Lost and Not Found universe include: Lost and Not Found, Forget What You Can't Remember, More Lost Memories, Cheating, Death, and the Lost and Not Found - Director's Cut. If you read/listen to Lost and Not Found and More Lost Memories, you've read/heard ...

oh my gosh i agree about the narration! i finally put it down. the book is great but i just cannot listen to this narrator. i wonder if he is just tired? it seems like he is tired and does not pronounce his words right. i think the singing that ...

Thanks for the feedback; I'll certainly try to pay closer attention to enunciation when recording future books, and will give the issue of a "snooty/uppity" tone careful consideration while listening to this book (and other of my books) again. I certainly didn't intend for every character to come across that ...
