Went through the pain of registering yet another password, etc., etc. just to give high praise for this readers work, and the story. This book is engrossing and ahead of its time. Less dense than Dracula, but with a real sense of place and character. The reader does a fine job not only with the basics of reading for the audience, but protraying the character without getting in the way of the story. Thanks to this reader and I will be looking for more of her stuff.

A beautiful classic read just perfect

It feels like an age since I have wanted to read the book (inspired by Jane Austen's mentioning it in her novels). I just love the reading of Elizabeth Klett and am so happy to have listened to this one today! Thank you! !!!Spoiler alert!!! I have found the story really mellow and quite beautiful. Nothing scary, vulgar or impudent. Perfect! With exception of the killing scene, it might be read even by children ... more like teenagers, I assume.

Wonderful

This story is such a dark and tragic love affair that my eyes watering just to think about it. Luv the story and the reading is exceptional. The girl that reads the book is fantastic and it made all the difference to the story. Her voice is compelling and made get lost into the story. For the record, I only register so I could give this review LoL,,, this is how much I liked this book and the quality of the recording.

Amazing reader!

The reader did an absolutely amazing job here. I remember reading Carmilla years ago but not liking it so much. But, listening to this wonderful reading made all the difference and now I actually love it! Great job!

A Very Good Vampire Tale

I'd wager to say this is better than Dracula, which I find more interesting for I believe it was written well before Dracula.

I have been a fan of Elizabeth since I listened to Goblin Market last year. That said, I don't know how much it influences my review but what a treasure. It is such a well written and romantic novella. The story is instantly engaging and the prose are poetic. It made me think of Mary Shelley more than once. This hidden jewel is definitely overlooked. A must read! A+

Very well read, of course, and a more engaging story than I anticipated. The narrator and her interactions with the title character are well written and neither comes across as stupid.
