Trader Tales 4: Double Share
Gelesen von Nathan Lowell
Nathan Lowell
When he graduates from the Academy at Port Newmar, Ishmael Horatio Wang reports for duty in his first assignment as an officer. When he gets to his new ship, he finds things are not exactly the way he'd learned in school. The coffee tastes like used engine oil, the ship has no heart, and the nearest decent tailor is two quadrants away. What's a new Third Mate to do? Will he be able to trust Billy?

A friend recommended 'Trader Tales' to me and I'm very glad she did. I have thoroughly enjoyed listening to all 6 of the books. And now I've just finished 'Ravenwood'. So I have to go see what else Mr. Lowell has written. Part of my enjoyment is the strong female ...

I'm 71. Captain's Share was the second audio book I 'read'. The first was Nightfall. Your reading is superb. Every word is clearly understood and the stories are riveting. One feels as if they are climbing the ladders along with Ishmael. I have now listened to all except Owner's Share. ...

As always, Mr. Lowell has out done himself. I found myself angry and feeling stressed with the difficulties presented to Mr. Wong. I often mulled over the problems when away from the story and sought to come up with solutions. Well done, you really pulled me in!
Really Enjoyable

This was the best of the series so far. Very well done. Story had substance and Ish has evolved as a mature and as a very likeable common sense character with integrity. On previous books it got silly sometimes at how he was taken up with his physique and how women were viewing him - definitely a man's frame of thought. I'm glad he got out of that phase in this book. As in all the books the reading is very well done . You have a wonderful voice Mr Lowell and a gift to tell a good story.

Continuing my second listen to this remarkable series...I'm left cheering after listening to this wonderful book. Here a graceful heart overcomes a disturbing and often dark situation...repleat with vilan and henchmen. This book maintains a constant tension that gets ratcheted up every now and then. Nathan...I am totally absorbed into this series...and this has much to do with your skills as a narrator....as well as your ability to create such interesting characters and provide them with very clever dialogue. Such a treat....
Thank you

I've now listened to the first 3 of the series. These books have made my 9 weeks of virtually total solitary isolation during the pandemic much more bearable, particularly as my wife is stranded with her family 1500 miles away. Sometimes your voicing of these tales has been my only contact with another human being for days at a time. I thank you for your imagination, the tales you have written and for your recitation of them.
I absolutely love this series. The author has a wonderfulvoice and is absolutly fantastic to listen to. The story lines are compelling, uplifting and fully engaging . The reader really gets a sense of being on that ship. The characters are marvelous, fully rounded personalities and completely engaging. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys a great story. I didn't want to stop listening .
mostly enjoyed these a great deal.

They were marred by the excess of sexual content in the second book. I also feel like the women officers in this final story were extremely negligent in protecting their crew. However, I feel like the author really did a good job of world building and I liked most of the chat. Well done and well read.
