Christine Daae was brought up in the Paris Opera house. Her musician father suddenly dies, telling her he will send her an angel of music to look after her. She grows up and discovers that she is hearing a voice, telling her and teaching her to sing. She believes he is the angel of music but he is known in the Opera House simply as The Phantom. Although she is fascinated and drawn towards the phantom, she falls in love with her childhood sweetheart, The Vicomte de Chagny - or Raoul - but the Phantom won't take this lightly... thrilling and captivating

(5 Sterne)

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. I've watched one of the movies and it was never as thrilling as this book. the reader did a wonderful job! the book did leave me feeling sorrowful as it was apparent he was a man made the way he was by the cruelty of others and the appearance he was born with that prevented him from being happy. it was rather sad. but a good book all the same.

This book and reading are amazing. For those who love the musical and want to keep adoring the phantom, do not listen. The phantom and raoul show the difference between healthy and abusive relationships, and unfortunately for webber, the phantoms written quite well as an abusive manipulator. The book is full of mystery and outdoes the musical most people know of in every way! This is one of my all time favorites, only second to Les Mis!!!

Sad but fascinating

Quite different from the musical version, and far more enjoyable as it provided an exceptional backstory. Much darker. Also, I adore Mr. Ralph's reading!

Excellent Reading

As a mystery, it is no more fantastic than a lot of 21st century stuff. The story is well constructed, moves along and builds suspense and intrigue well. A couple of chapters could have been shorter. Realism and character development are in short supply, until the end when the phantom is revealed. The reader has done an excellent job.

It takes a little while to get going, but it is a masterpiece of a book and truly captivates the reader’s imagination, bringing horror, humor, and drama all into a twisted love story! 10/10

even tho i get lost at times when listening, I still got back in track. maybe because of how the story is read. i just noticed the weird cuts in between idk

Excellent story/adequate reader

Very dramatic tale and an interesting listen. The reader was fluent, and not completely without feeling. His pronunciation faced aome issues. Still an enjoyable listen.

Excellent reader

Excellent reader. I'll certainly listen to his next works. The book itself is pretty good too, albeit the ending is kinda weird. Recommended.
