The Girl on the Boat
Gelesen von Kara Shallenberg (1969-2023)
P. G. Wodehouse
Also published as "Three Men and a Maid". The maid of the title is red-haired, dog-loving Wilhelmina "Billie" Bennet, and the three men are Bream Mortimer, a long-time friend and admirer of Billie, Eustace Hignett, a lily-livered poet who is engaged to Billie at the opening of the tale, and Sam Marlowe, Eustace's dashing cousin, who falls for Billie at first sight. All four find themselves on an ocean liner headed for England together, along with a capable young woman called Jane Hubbard who is smitten with Eustace, and typically Wodehousian romantic shenanigans ensue. I listened to this book by mistake

I had already listened to Three Men and a Maid and I was confused as to why this story line sounded so familiar, duh, I should have read the summary more carefully... :-D Anyways, the story is great, plenty of laughs, and Kara is an excellent reader. I enjoyed this book immensely, even if it was a repeat for me. :-)
it was a DELIGHTFUL book with delightful characters, a silly plot, and a satisfying (if not predictable) end. the girl who reads the book to you has a pleasant voice, which does not get old, and makes you want to ignore all else and continue on. I would highly recommend this book to a female audience. I couldn't have enjoyed it more!
Entertainment for long car trip

I enjoyed listening to this audio book while traveling a few hours back and forth on the weekends. The reader uses good inflection and sometimes manages to make the voices of each character distinct. The story is a classic one of love and disagreements. Well done!
Yet another Wodehouse winner

On par with Shakespeare's comedies. KayRay has the right pace for Wodehouse although this time with some longer pauses than absolutely necessary, yet, you'll have the enjoyment of hearing this done by a reader who delights in the genius of a master.
Very good!

Kara read this book so well. I could tell she was amused as she read, and I literally laughed out loud a couple of times. Total silliness, really, and another reader might have made it too boring to go on.
great story wonderful reader!

The intricate details about the scene, expressions bought the scene live in the head. The lady who read this piece of art really enhanced the experience.
Great!

Great job, Kara Shallenberg! That was the most charming and delightful P.G. Wodehouse reading I've ever heard. I sure hope you read more complete books.
