Suspense 3: the "after Roma" years, December 1947 to July 1950

(4.8 Sterne; 5 Bewertungen)

Suspense was a long-running dramatic anthology on CBS from the summer of 1942 to what many consider the final day of radio's golden age on September 30, 1962. It was one of radio's most successful series, known for its exceptional writing and high production standards. The series gained significant attention with the May 1943 broadcast of the play "Sorry, Wrong Number" and continued to evolve through various sponsorships, including a notable partnership with Roma Wines.

After the Roma sponsorship ended in November 1947, the series entered a transitional phase characterized by unsponsored broadcasts and experimentation with an hour-long format. Despite challenges, including the potential cancellation of the show, the program featured prominent Hollywood stars and maintained a high standard of dramatic performance. The recordings in this collection represent some of the best-sounding episodes from this period, showcasing the talent and creativity that defined the series.

These recordings are part of the Joe Hehn Memorial Collection, which aims to preserve superior quality versions of Suspense episodes. Mr. Hehn was a pioneering collector of radio recordings, and this collection reflects his dedication to the art of radio drama.

This recording is part of the Old Time Radio collection.
