Harper's Young People is an illustrated weekly publication for children that includes short stories, tales from history, natural history, poetry, puzzles, and other fun. This 32nd issue of the serial was published on June 8th, 1880. In this issue, the captain and crew of the Whitewing set sail in the second installment of "The Moral Pirates", "The Story of George Washington" finds the president keeping the peace with England and supporting a leader of the French Revolution, and a comical chain of events ensue when the carpenters scare a rat from its hiding spot in "The Adventures of a Rat Race". Other highlights of this issue include "A Chat About Philately", a story about stamp collecting's popularity; fearful accounts of North America's powerful "Grizzly Bear"; and, a chance encounter at just the right time is fortunate for a girl and her mother in "An Apronful of Water-Cresses". This periodical was published by Harper & Brothers, known today for their publications Harper's Bazaar and Harper's Magazine. - Summary by Jill Engle
