Engaging stories read by a variety of readers--some extremely talented, all worthwhile.
Don't be put off by the first reader!

Oh dear! These multi-reader collaborations are supposedly coordinated by one person, but the coordinator slipped up here, as they approved the reading of the first story in this collection despite the fact that it is awful to the point of unintelligibilty. I just gave up on story number one as I just could not understand what the reader was saying. Thankfully, I skipped forward to the next story rather than giving up on the book entirely, and the rest of the stories are read very well, but really, this coordinator is dping nobody any favours, including the reader himself, by allowing such an awful reading to be published, especially as it was the opening chapter of the book. And let me be very clear: I am in no way criticising that reader. He went to the effort of reading and recording that chapter in good faith. It is the coordinator who is to blame for allowing that one reading to spoil the whole project and to waste the efforts of the whole team. The bar to participation should not be high for volunteer readers of course, but the listener MUST be able to understand the words being read. I suspect part of the problem is that the reader didn't understand the words himself. So, don't be put off by the opening chapter. In fact, just skip it and start with Chapter Two. The stories themselves are well worth reading. Good book.
Such fun stories!!

Short Stories Lucy Maud Montgomery 1905-1906

I love these short stories so much. And many of the readers are excellent, some better than others. I have a few favorites for sure. When won the story and the reader are both great, it is just so enjoyable. Lucy Maud Montgomery was a genius with words. The only story I really could not enjoy was the first story read by Cata. He tried very hard to do a good reading, but his inflection, his accent, and the mispronunciation of a few words made it hard to follow. But I plan to read the printed version of this first story so that I can listen to it again.
Wonderful
